Giving Back

The hardest part about parenting these days is keeping children grounded. We have all worked so hard to make sure that our kids have the best we could afford but that can sometimes lead to bratty entitled children.

I am teaching my child to give back and currently we are collecting sock for the LA Mission. We are working with the principle for the school to encourage each kid to bring one pair of socks.

Another way we are giving back every 3-6 months I have her donate old toys that she no longer plays with. We do it so often that she has no problem letting go of the thing that no longer serve her.

For Valentine's Day we hand out valentine cards to all the homeless in our neighborhood. We get the biggest smiles because everyone has forgot about them on this day. My daughter loves it to.

As parents, how we treat people is the model for our kids. My husband and I always give food when asked by the homeless on the street never money. I once overheard her talking to one of her friends about how we always by food for them. She said it with such pride.

These are just some examples of how we encourage our little one to be more generous. I hope this inspires you to include genorocity in your parenting style as well.
